Experts discuss environmental issues
In the spring of 2007, the Amerika Haus devoted its time and effort to the crucial questions regarding the environment and climate in both Europe and North America with its series of events entitled „BEYOND KYOTO“. The world-wide climate change, the disastrous damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and the rising floods in Europe and Germany they are all proof that the environment concerns each one of us and that we can only solve this problem together.
The Amerika Haus Association, in conjunction with the Bavarian American Academy and the youth forum of the Foreign Affairs Association, invited German and American experts from several political, economic and environmental organizations in order to discuss this important topic. The lectures, film contributions and panel discussions showed that, besides the ecological aspects, the climate change entailed also economic and social changes in both America and Europe. During the course of the live televised discussion that concluded the event, it became clear that the US, in conjunction with Europe, recognizes the need to look for solutions.
